A three-quarter spiral staircase connects the living room to a mezzanine office space. The staircase is supported by one steel stringer and features 15 uniquely stained wood treads. The result is a seamless connection between an ebonized oak floor on the upper-level with a white oak floor on the lower-level.
The owner's extensive collection of midcentury and contemporary art and furniture is incorporated into a complete renovation of existing finishes, fixtures, and equipment that includes a new library, kitchen, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms. The renovation includes bespoke furniture designed by the architects, including a set of uniquely shaped barstools, a white oak platform bed, a George Nelson inspired shower bench made entirely from ipe, as well as a custom display wall to suspend multiple chairs above a bookshelf.
